If the smell of malt surprises you as you walk through the old town of Maribor, know that Pivovarna Maribor is brewing beer. Unfiltered lagers from Slovenian hops and Styrian malt have been brewed here for the last 20 years.

Draft beers are available at La Cantina restaurant – CENTER. On the terrace under the trees, the brewery beer garden offers a brand-new beer experience. You can pour your own beer. Quick taps pour a pint of chilled beer in less than 4 seconds. And some homemade beer sausages from local meats will round off the experience.

Pivovarna Maribor, as the only brewery in the city center, continues the tradition of brewing green lager. Their flagship beers are a light and a dark unfiltered lager. In the warm months, they offer domestic unfiltered Radler and occasionally boutique pale ale editions are available. They want to impress the locals and the tourists with their lagers. They jokingly say that the best neighbour is the one who pours beer from their brewery, and they take pride in the good relationship they have with the neighbours. In 2018, the brewery was modernized, the recipe perfected, and their work was recognized by the most popular restaurants and cafes in the city. This makes it possible to live their mission, while lager lovers can enjoy local beer.

Their lagers are the result of striving for a controlled regime, perfected recipes, and love for brewing beer. They are also enthusiastic about creating good radlers and discovering fresh new beer experiences.

“It may be true that I don’t know how to play the guitar, but at least I know how to make a good LAGER,” says brewer LUKA.
